Registered Dietitian, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center
The Registered Dietician identify patients at nutritional risk through the screening process. Provide nutrition assessment, care planning and diet/nutrition education appropriate for age, disease state and nutrition problem. Document nutrition care in the patient’s medical record. Provide interdisciplinary and collaborative care through day-to-day communication and interaction with the health care team. Contribute to nutrition care team knowledge and evidence based practice. Provide education and training as assigned.
The largest medical facility in the region, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) includes a full-service hospital with 318 patient beds. It serves as the region’s healthcare hub, serving southeast Idaho, western Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park and parts of Montana. EIRMC is home to a Level II Trauma Center, a Level 1 ICU (of only two in Idaho), and the only Burn Center in the state of Idaho. Our ER is the most experienced in the region. The hospital’s other specialty services include the region’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit capable of caring for babies born as early as 22 weeks gestation; the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Unit, the largest heart program in the region, a Behavioral Health Center which is a74-bed Joint Commission accredited psychiatric hospital and the region’s only Primary Stroke Center.

Must possess extensive knowledge regarding nutrition and dietetic principles and practices for various ages and disease states. This position requires a Bachelor or Master degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.Must be a registered dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed with the State of Idaho or a graduate dietitian with a provisional license from the State of Idaho. If a graduate dietitian he/she must successfully complete the examination for professional registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration within 6 months and obtain a State of Idaho license.
The incumbent must successfully maintain the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics continuing education requirements to maintain their registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Continual updating of knowledge through review of current research and literature relating to nutrition care is required to keep current with changing concepts in nutrition and related disciplines.
Dietitians who seek and achieve specialty dietetics certification such as Certified Nutrition Support or Adult Weight Management must comply with the continuing education required to maintain these specialty certifications.
Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and nutrition practice groups is encouraged.
Dietitians must apply for and receive a Medicare provider number given the possibility of working with assigned outpatients.
Strong interpersonal skills with sensitivity and maturity required due to extensive interaction with patients, families and other health care professionals. Must be able to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor during higher volume/ demand times and stressful situations with good two-way communication during resolution of conflict, first with individual then up chain of command.
Previous clinical dietetics experience desirable.
Previous computer experience and familiarity with keyboard required; familiarity with Microsoft software helpful.
Hold or obtain certification in safe food handling such as Serve Safe or Idaho Food Code.
