Earlier this month I had the honor of representing the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Public Policy Workshop. Also attending from Idaho was Barbara Grant, MS, RD, LD, CSO.
I shared our Concurrent Resolution (HCR019), NNM Proclamation, Annual Meeting Marketing card, Membership Flyer, pictures and facts of the Senior Nutrition Program at the Elks (Boise), one page information sheet, Top Ten Reasons, and materials specifically prepared for “Hill” visits by the PIA team in DC. We have an amazing team representing all of us in DC and one of them is coming to our Annual Meeting in May (Mary Pat Raimondi).
PPW was held on Sunday, March 10th and Monday, March 11th. I am attaching the notes I shared with your Idaho Academy Board yesterday. Board members have lots of ideas for follow-through on suggestions, ideas and resources from PPW. As RoseAnna says “onward and foreward and stay tuned.”
Also attached is a list of who I met with. If you go to Washington, DC on business or pleasure, please make an appointment to meet with leaders in Congress. We met with Senators Crapo and Risch and Congressman Simpson and with Congressman Simpson’s Legislative Assistant, Amanda Leamer. US Senate and House Meetings and Contact Information – March 12, 2013
And for fun – here are a few pictures. Interestly, in Senator Risch’s office, his assistant took the picture (hope they send one).
It was an honor representing all of you at PPW, Elaine Long
