Hello Idaho Academy Members,
We want to hear from you! The House of Delegates (HOD) selected the topic of Technology: Big Data for discussion at the fall HOD meeting. As a part of the HOD meeting dialogue, delegates will dive further into what is needed to elevate the role of RDNs and NDTRs and improve outcomes in all areas of practice by leveraging Big Data. This is where we need your help!
Please take this survey on Technology: Big Data before Thursday, October 3, 2019. The survey should take approximately five minutes of your time. Our members’ results will be shared with us (your delegate) as well as the entire HOD to help inform the dialogue on Friday, October 25 during the HOD Fall 2019 Meeting in Philly. Thank you for your time. RoseAnna Holliday
Delegate, Idaho Affiliate
What do we mean by Big Data? In the most general explanation, it refers to extremely large data sets that may be analyzed computationally to reveal patterns, trends, and associations, especially relating to human behavior and interactions. Data may come from a wide variety of sources such as digital transactions, social media, smartphones, sensors, “smart” home devices, electronic health records and health care claims, to name a few. A few examples of Big Data include tracking food intake and steps taken on a smartphone, using sensor data to predict weather, and self-driving cars. As a part of the HOD meeting dialogue, delegates will dive further into what is needed to elevate the role of RDNs and NDTRs and improve outcomes in all areas of practice by leveraging Big Data.
